The SMPS Houston MAA program recognizes excellence by marketing professionals in the design and building industry.

Peers nominate fellow esteemed members, firms, and clients in the categories of:

  • Hall of Fame

  • Client of the Year.

Category Descriptions

CLIENT OF THE YEAR
An individual, private company or public entity located within the Houston region that has commissioned A/E/C related services from the nominating SMPS member and has demonstrated a consistent, long-standing commitment to excellence through the encouragement of innovative ideas/practices and the support of teamwork and quality design and construction. The entity exemplifies significant contributions to both the built environment and the community.

MEMBER OF THE YEAR
Member has demonstrated significant commitment to the organization during the past year. The Member has gone above and beyond the role of a typical member and has made significant contributions to the Chapter in the process.

RISING STAR

While in their early years of membership, the Rising Star has jumped in with both feet, becoming an engaged member who actively seeks ways to add value to the Chapter. The Rising Star must:

  • Have joined SMPS within the past three years.
  • Be actively involved in a SMPS committee.
  • Attend/participate in SMPS events.

*Members who have at any time held a Board of Directors position are not eligible.

 

MEMBER FIRM OF THE YEAR

Firm has made a significant contribution to the Houston Chapter during the past year in a variety of ways, including active members, support of chapter activities and sponsorship of chapter programs.

 

PRINCIPAL OF THE YEAR

A “Technical” Executive Leader/ Principal whose influence has significantly impacted the marketing and BD departments of their firm - and the success of the SMPS members at that firm. While their main responsibility is not marketing they demonstrate fervent support of the business development and marketing team members. This person serves as a mentor and collaborator to bridge the gap between the technical profession and the marketing world by sharing their knowledge and valuing the core vision of SMPS to raise the bar of excellence within our industry.

 

MARKETING EXCELLENCE
Recognizes an individual or a company for their marketing accomplishments in the design and building industry. Recipient has maintained a visible position in the marketplace through service to the profession, promoting Chapter activities and the creation/distribution of quality marketing materials.

 

BUSINESS DEVELOPER OF THE YEAR

Recognizes an individual for their Business Development and Strategic Planning accomplishments in the design and building industry. Recipient has shown success setting overall sales strategy for building and maintaining business through promoting of their brand, client relations, and expertise while displaying and showing proper ethics and values.

 

ROCK OF THE CHAPTER

A member whose contributions have significantly impacted the Chapter over the past several years. Known to be a backbone of the Chapter, this person is always working for the greater good of the organization and the A/E/C industry. He or she might be considered a “go to” person who knows what needs to be done to stay in front of the pack.

 

HALL OF FAME

“Best of the best” among his or her peers in the A/E/C marketing industry. These individuals have a long, rich history of success in the Houston built environment and have made a significant, indelible impact on professional services marketing and the Houston Chapter. SMPS Houston can induct up to two individuals per year. Nominee can be a member or non-member.
