Krystal Robinson, CPSM | Marketing Coordinator at Manhattan | Education Committee, SMPS Houston
What is the biggest benefit of being active in SMPS? I moved to Houston in 2010; new to this community. As soon as I could I joined SMPS Houston. This greatly helped me adjust to the Houston area. The biggest benefit of SMPS is the connections you make with people in the industry. SMPS became, for me, a common place where we become more colleagues than competitors.
Can you offer a helpful hint for fellow SMPS members? Become active in a committee to really get to know people and make connections.
What do you love most about your job? I enjoy working as a team for a deadline. I find the end product for a collaborative effort will be greater than if one of us completes a project. It is great to bounce ideas off of each other and teach each other new tricks. It also gives you time to be more creative if you are not bearing the entire workload.
If you were not in this industry, what would be your “dream job”? I would probably work in dog rescue or dog daycare/boarding on a ranch. Every day would be a new adventure and I would interact with dogs all day.
How do you kick-back? My husband and I usually take our dogs to a large dog park and swimming pool. They enjoy socializing and we get tired pups for when we get home.
What is your favorite film? Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. I own a signed portrait of Matthew Broderick.
What would we find playing on your iPod, or phone, etc.? Podcast and Audiobooks. Currently I am subscribed to 11 podcast feeds ranging from TV series in depth conversations to random pub trivia and education.
