Advocate, Educate, Connect.
I am very excited to be leading the chapter in my new role this year. It is an honor and a privilege to serve the chapter and to help promote the vision of the Society of Marketing Professional Services.
I became a member of the SMPS Houston chapter in 2010 when I landed my first job in the AEC industry. I had been around the SMPS chapter for many years and attended events as my sister was a member of the chapter. As a result, I knew I wanted to start my professional career in the AEC industry and became fully immersed and actively engaged in our local chapter. With that goal in mind, as a new member, I immediately volunteered to co-chair the gala during Andrea Goodwin’s presidential term, and following that, Melinda Robinson approached me about serving on the executive board as secretary, which I quickly accepted and served for a two-year term.
I am a firm believer in taking on a role and making it your own; make it work for you. As the Mentor Protégé Director, I revamped the program, and our chapter saw the largest program in terms of pairs that were committed to the year-long program and encouraged all participants to make the program their own, make the program work for them, and stressed that you will get what you put in.
My vision for this year is three-fold: member focused, talent development/succession planning, and toensure our directors have the resources and tools they need to be set up for success.
I look forward to an outstanding year and to help move our chapter in this direction.
